Week 18 Dolphins Gamete thread

Pats were down 14 before McDaniels could blink. I don't see how that can get pinned on him.

Also, if we're going to place blame it better be distributed equally to the defense, because they were pretty shitty most game aside from a few stops here and there. If Pats offense isn't considered explosive, I don't even know what the Dolphins offense can be considered as.
Defense was shitty for sure. No question.

And as a result it required him McD to make adjustments quickly. He did not. He has not all season.

The pre-game strategies have sucked and the in game adjustments are SLOW.

I keep hoping that they are just hiding "stuff" to spring in the playoffs.

If the Pats keep playing the same way that they have been for the last few weeks, they aren't going to do jack shit in the post season...FACT.
tommy d called it a couple weeks ago.
i don't expect them to win a playoff game regardless of opponent. we get frustrated and angry with all the dumb errors/pelatys(thanks emmitt)/turnovers, etc. they've made this year because we aren't used to seeing bb teams play like that for more than a few games/year. i think we sometimes forget how many new players came to the team .developing patriots level the discipline and technique is going to take time. that said...that doesn't excuse ANY of the special teams fuck ups this year which were all lt patriots veterans iirc. that is really head scratching.

It's still impressive for being a rebuild year...

It is. 100% it is. And I appreciate it tremendously.

I am a fan and I want to win and it is crazy to me to see them lose games they SHOULD have won, again.

Call me a spoiled rotten Patriots fan. My friends do. :insane:

2015. We go to Miami in the final week and got dopeslapped 20-10. It was the famous "Steven Jackson" game where
he kept running dives into the line and ended up with 2.5 YPC. Not once that year did we roll out a similar game plan. We
looked deader than dead despite the uplifting presence of the magic goat and ended up beating the Chiefs in the divisional
round 27-20 while appearing for all the world to be a completely different football team.

2014. We lose (an obvious tank) to a bad Bills team in 17-9 in the finale at Gillette when Jimmy G. took most of the snaps and that
got us to "get in there Malcolm!"

I believe there were more of those if I had the energy to dig them up.

The point is.........aw shit......I dunno.

Maybe we've got pocket aces and will shock the world. Maybe it was easier to tank a "meaningless" game when you
had Brady to bail us out when the playoffs started, but there were a lot of late season stinkers with 12 in there (2019 for instance), too, and he wasn't the only
guy on the team. We've looked suspiciously shitty in too many season enders to ignore and sometimes it doesn't matter.

At least nobody can tell us that the Pats have never been in a similar situation and bounced back strong.

Welp, that is the plan for us (the fans) now, isn't it?

After the Patriots went down 14-0, they outscored the Dolphins 24-13. Please. :coffee:

What is concerning is that the defense have been losing the LOS battle consistently bar maybe against Jax, the past month. Opposing O Lines have just bossed them and enabled huge runs against us combined with poor linebacking play and what is noticeable lately, poor tackling.

I don't think for a minute this can be fixed in a week. If we had momentum if we had beaten the Colts and the Bills and the Finns yesterday you could look forward to a genuine run. There are two many issues combined now. Offense miscues with Mac making some bad decisions and some poor O Line play, Defense in pass rush and run defence and noticeable, special teams miscues all over the place bar Nick FOlk who has been maybe the player of the season.....

It's a rebuilding year with a rookie QB so criticisms have to be qualified. I look forward to Perkins getting involved next season and also McCrone. I'm very interested to see how he pans out. We need to look at LBs, O Line and Bill needs to look ay Jonnu Smith and Agholor in the offseason as neither has contributed.

That play combined with the bogus call on Bolden were big. The McCourty drop. That fucking spot, which I still don't understand. There are always a couple of those
to suck on when you lose.

Miami had our number consistently and that is likely due to our limited passing attack. They were able to step up in the box without worrying too much,
but they often shifted just at the snap, keeping Mac off balance, much like Indy and Buffalo did. Yes, I played the blueprint card, but I think it's true. Right now we
have to accept that there is a book on Mac and he's got to develop more, which takes time. We can't get the ball outside the hashes and can't push it downfield
often enough to keep a smart D back on their heels. We need more talent and a more mature Mac Jones who has legit 3rd down option besides Meyers because
James White might never come walking back in that locker room. His loss was critical because nobody could cover him. We need another dynamic guy they
can't cover and Jonnu Smith isn't, apparently, that guy. Or anybody else on the roster.

On D, we haven't attempted to pressure anybody in recent memory and I thought that was an area of real progress earlier in the year. We play soft all the time
in an attempt to wait for a mistake that doesn't always come. If we're saving it up for the playoffs, then it wouldn't be unprecedented, but I just can't understand
where it all the pressure disappeared to if it isn't coached that way.

I figured we'd have a rough go down there, because we almost always do. The spread seemed absurd to me. Those guys recently won 7 straight and we
never forced Tua into any bad decisions or to even think twice very often. He looked like he did when 'Bama was cruising against Western Carolina. Like one of those
games when we'd let Jay Feeley or another stiff have career games because we let them get warmed up and temporarily feeling like maybe they didn't suck after all.

I never loved that theory. Seems to me if you bring heat on a guy that has issues then it's a fundamentally better way to play, but--- what do I know?

If I just watched the games Miami played versus us the past two years I'd think Flores was a hell of a coach. His players play hard and they aren't pussies like before
he took over. They outhit us again on both sides of the line. Elandon Roberts was an average player here, at best, but he looks like a monster against us. We haven't shown
any fire on D in about a month and a half and I can't explain that.

I always hate the world for a few hours after a Pats loss, but this one wasn't exactly a shock. We don't have any legit chance to do anything in the playoffs, but it's
been a positive season and I'll come around in a day or two and look for something to feel hopeful about.

I'm on to next year

So, we get to play the Bills in Buffalo at 8:15 on Saturday night.
Should be nice and warm and who knows if there is going to be snow, ice, wind or all of the above.
