With the recent binge of posting direct links to porn sites in the girlie thread, it's not surprising that an STD or two would make it's way in.

Yeah that’s getting a little out of hand.
 
The internet is a nasty place and annoying place. I don't browse without at least the "uBlock Origin" add-on for my browsers.

I’m sorry if you misunderstand my post. I’m not really offended by anything in any thread. I am mindful of the people who created and maintain the site and I’m sure they have better things to do than deal with malware. So, if people thought about that before posting questionable content, it would be helpful.

That’s where I was coming from.

Tbh, I was stunned with your post.

Virus, etc, can be attached to ANYTHING. There’s no reason to assume it came from clothed pics in a Girlie thread.

A "clothed" picture doesn't make it safe. The latest batch of pictures are from images.sex.com. It may be safe, may not, the popups/infections may have nothing at all to do with the girlie pic thread.

What we know is that there is something that's injected itself into the site, UT has gone above and beyond to keep things patched together and, to my knowledge, there is not a solution. We don't own the server, the steps that can be taken are limited.

For me, the browsers I have with good ad blockers installed do not have problems.
 
For what it's worth none of the popups that appear for me has anything to do with porn.

financial, insurance, political shit mostly.

It stopped for awhile but I guess it depends on the day.

I say I do what I can given the limitations we have.

This software is old and vulnerable and hackable. They get on, replace board files with redirects, I find the files, and replace with official versions. In a never ending cycle. There is nothing else I can do as we do not own the DotCom domain. So it's up to Austin on when he wants to upgrade the software.

I guess the one thing I could do additionally if the members wanted is get rid of any unofficial addons we have. Most notably, the casino and the arcade.

I never come here, and I came here today and get spam windows opening every time I click on a thread.

Clearly something is different about PP than CP.
 
Yeah I'm getting popups and redirects on any link on here, has been happening for a few days now. In firefox, doesn't occur when using Adblock Plus, which raises the question- is there significant revenue generation from ads? I don't like dealing with random popups, but nor do I want to cut off the ability of this place to sustain itself by blocking revenue. So just wondering how harmful (or not) it is to use Adblock.
