Reports that Stork and Nate Washington to be cut

Update: Pats ship C Bryan Stork to Redskins

Redskins acquired C Bryan Stork from the Patriots in exchange for a conditional seventh-round pick.

Leaking to the media their intentions to cut Stork, the Patriots were able to finagle what is likely a conditional seventh-round pick out of Washington. It's better than letting Stork walk for nothing. And now the Redskins are on the hook for the contract, as well. Stork will compete to start in D.C.

Patriots released WR Nate Washington.

Washington was buried on the depth chart in New England and didn't even make it to final cuts. The 33-year-old (on Sunday) had some big games for the Texans last season on his way to a 48-661-4 line, but wasn't brought back and settled for a minimum deal with the Patriots. He should be able to land another look-see at some point this season once injuries hit other teams.

A 7th is better than nothing, or a first round pick or that matter since Gotohell won't ever allow the Pats to draft in the first round again.

Depends. If he gets more on his remaining contract than his agent thinks he could get on the open market (barring any offset language, not sure on that in his deal) it might not be bad. Division winning team with a lot of talent on offense. Division is not that great so should be competitive.

A 4th round pick wouldn't get any off-set & the Pats are off the hook anyway bc the Redskins now have his contract through the trade. This is good for the Redskins since his salary is small and it's ok for Stork since FA would have been a gamble with 500 more FAs on the market in a week. The cap savings for the Pats is a paltry $150K so nothing there.

We'll learn more about the trade to the Redskins soon. I'm of the belief there were talks recently about Stork with teams, the Redskins being 1 of them, but no team wanted to pull the trigger. BB pulled a fast one by publicizing Stork would be released. The Redskins are way too far down the waiver list to have a chance at Stork so in the end BB forced the Redskins to pull the trigger.

Among the many reasons for Andrews winning out over Stork it shouldn't be forgotten that Stork was DeGuglielmo's pick.

Source says Bryan Stork is considering retirement. Team clearly working to convince otherwise

He should retire. He has had a ton of concussions.

On second thought, after reading Patscap.com numbers on Stork, it looks like Stork would owe over $800,000 to the Redskins &/Patriots if he retires. Would he really repay that money rather than play for a bit? Concussions or not, he won't retire bc that's a helluvalot of money for a guy still on their rookie contract.

The Redskins have already announced the trade which makes it official.

BB is the best GM ever. Period.

The "conditional" pick is probably on the condition that he actually plays and doesn't retire?

Bill is a great GM BUT the Skins are really, really dumb. Like Al Davis dumb.

Latest report is Stork is not retiring and will be joining Redskins

Quite the quandary to be in.

Do I take the money or potentially end up with a damaged brain.???
Feel sorry for Stork.

The physical done by Washington was that performed by the same doc who provided guidance for RG3???

Accord to Disney Sports, Stork failed his physical and his rights now revert back to the Patriots who will presumably release him.
