Teh Official Week 6 Pats vs Steelers Game Thread

From the Steelers Fan Forum. This thread is gold.

Coaching lost this game. We thought the Patriots would go to TE all game like they normally do so they run and do screens then go to TE after halftime and we make "adjustments" They thought we'd run the ball and we run the ball. Good job, coaching. Game was over when Tomlin decided to receive in typical fashion. 3 and out and they get the ball at half. Field goals was never winning this game. Bell had a good game but running the ball was never winning this game. He runs for 5, holding, 1st and 15, runs for 5, 2nd and 10. Good job. Landry showed he had what it took to win this game. He had success when in shotgun/4 wide. Should have done that the whole game. Defense actually wasn't completely embarrassing.

Loss is on

A) Tomlin

B) Haley

I know that this isn't your comment Mazz. But, holy shit.

That defense should give back their game checks from yesterday. They were a complete and total embarrassment. The only reason they didn't give up 600 yards was because the Patriots quit throwing in the 4th quarter - and you STILL gave up 100+ yards to JAG Blount. Not just 100 yards, but the YPC was ridiculously high.

5 for 5 on the first 5 third downs.

I don't think they laid a finger on Brady the entire game...and the Patriots O-Line isn't the greatest.

That defense was embarrassing. You had your backup QB in there, and you knew you had to pick him up a bit....and you do that.

I hope the Patriots get to play them again in the playoffs. That will be a money. maker. I don't care where they set the line. :coffee:

I thought this game was practically a carbon copy of the Cincy game. It was right out of Patriots central casting.

Close first half with a small lead going into halftime and then putting the pedal down for a couple of quick scores in the 3rd and then nursing the lead and bleeding the clock down the rest of the way. We let Landry Jones get in a rhythm as we have so many 2nd tier QBs over the years and it almost appeared like he was doing it to us instead of the other way around. No sacks? No shit. Folks shouldn't think we can't pressure the pocket if that was how we wanted to play it.

Watching this team right now it almost appears like they could blow anybody out if they felt like it, but Bill just wants enough of a margin to get a W and move on to next week in a methodical way. He's keeping some bullets in the chamber, too. I believe it is important to Bill to not let the players get swelled heads halfway through the season by ripping teams by 30. Let's say that is his way to keep things in control and keep the end game in sight--- another trophy and nothing less.

I will say that it has been a long time since I've seen a Pittsburgh D that was so soft to run inside on. I know they were missing Heyward, but.....Jesus......Blount just shredded them and there were big holes where there used to be slivers.

They'll win a lot of games with just Bell and Brown dominating, but let's not be under the illusion that this is a good Steelers team. No way.

It was another day at the office. A mercilessly effective one.

That would be crazy. It wouldn't surprise me. But I think once the patriots get the lead, bill unleashes the D from zone coverage to man to man and blitzes

27-16. With all of the injuries. I'll take it.

WTF?? Losers mentality.....lol.

I heard Holley on EEI today commenting on something I noticed, the BS PF call on Hightower... he correctly noted that the whistle had not blown, so he took the guy down. That call had me out of my chair. That and Simms saying it was a good call, that Pat-hating POS.

The refs are spot on...like usual.

Chris Simms is an instant "mute the **** out of the sound system" for me. Can't stand listening to his comments, can't stand his dialect. **** him, the piece of shit.

I personally thought the hit was unnecessary. The play was dead, the ball carrier had given himself up. The refs should have been quicker with the whistle, but there was no need for the hit.

That is true...but...play to the whistle...or something like that. :coffee:

No doubt the whistle should have been blown quicker, but say a QB slides on a scramble or a WR makes a catch and turtles and before the whistle is blown, a defender blasts him. That's 15 yards any day that ends with y. They call it unnecessary roughness for a reason. I know I'm in the minority, but Hightower deserved the penalty.

Thought the same thing. The play was over. No need for the hit.

They couldn't let that go after the call on the Hogan take down.
