The Wells Report

Bruce Allen ‏<s>@</s>bruceallen <small class="time"> 15m15 minutes ago </small> Which is it, Ted? The league didn't take it seriously, or at least three league execs were taking steps before game?

Click on the "view photo" link...very impt since today Wells said the league didn't take the Colts' accusations seriously yet 3 NFL execs took steps...it WAS a sting even though Wells said it "was the opposite of a sting".

Lying sack of shit

heh, well more accurately does the evidence against the Pats and Brady meet the standard of proof required by the NFL (more probable than not) in order to impose discipline? The NFL and the Wells report says yes, Brady and the Pats say no. The Arbitrator will ultimately decide who is right.

My guess is it gets knocked down to two games. We'll see though.

I've entertained this thought. That they meant to suspend him two games but knew that would be overturned so they gave him four games and hope it got knocked down to two.

I know, I know, I know, I think odd when I have free time.

That's not odd at all. The first offer I make when negotiating something is never what I want to ultimately settle for.

I have wonder about this, how they will proceed when apples does not equal to oranges.

If you can prove that your oranges are more probable then not the same as their apples.

So if Brady's team can prove the report could have come up with the opposite findings just as more probable then not too then ………….. Goodel has a problem.

Which is horseshit in this type of situation. An arbitrator should throw out the entire suspension for such a grossly inept application of power and investigative procedures.

Did anyone ask him about why they chose to use Exponent? You know, since the appearance of independence and impartiality were so important to him?

Did anyone ask him anything?

Or did he simply schpiel?

If questions were allowed and that group couldn't come up with more than what's listed in the summation of topics I've lost faith in ALL media.

I've been thinking same, that if suspension was for 2 games it would'a been appealed down to 1, so they said 4. The fine is to "get" Kraft and the draft picks are to "get" Belichick.

And they have see the Saints bounty gate players. And more recently Rice and Peterson

Thought this as well with the original thought I posted. They already paid for SG so they are pulling a double jeopardy as far as I am concern if the above is true.

Let's just say that having your press event where you profess your impartiality run semi-secretly by the organization you're professing impartiality from is too dumfounding to look at as simply irony.

I'm mesmerized just from the pretzel logic needed to read and understand that sentence. :thumb: But you are absolutely right.

Impartiality is being discussed on WEEI this afternoon and a good point was brought out of it.

Assuming that somebody has to hire an investigator and pay his bill, then is it even POSSIBLE to find one that is totally impartial?

Wells had financial ties to the league prior to becoming their lead investigator, so he is obviously not impartial and just proved it in that shitty, amateurish report that cost millions, but I digress.

The only way to find an impartial investigator is if both sides agree on the selection and split the bill. I don't know how that would even be possible. The Patriots shouldn't have had to split the bill for an investigation against them that never should have taken place, but I bring this all up just to hopefully provide some useful context for a word that we're hearing an awful lot of lately.

Impartial.

Oh also, the standard of proof required by NFL bylaws is significantly different than our legal justice system. So comparing the two probably isn't really relevant.

Thanks for the enlightenment oh wise one.

You're smart. Well spoken. And just happen to be a fan of the disgusting team that whined like a little bitch and started this whole sting. And they can paint it and deny it all they want. It's the definition of a sting.

We just got prison raped. Our collective leashes will be short.

Well, no, just that the standard of proof required in each instance is different. Which is why comparing the two makes no sense.

NFL: "more probable than not"
Criminal justice system: "beyond a reasonable doubt."

Problem is that even when using the preponderance of the evidence standard to determine guilt (as in this case), the report simply doesn't warrant its own conclusions.
The science is shady and borderline meaningless and as such it's ridiculous that the two biggest questions (did they alter the footballs and did tom brady know about it) have been answered in the way that they were.

You know, I havent given you guys shit about this. I haven't said all your achievements are tainted or that your dirty cheating cheaters or really anything negative about the Patriots despite being given cause daily here by angry people projecting their anger.

So quite frankly Dwight, you can go **** yourself with this. Being mad doesn't give you cause to be an asshole.

Having lived through Spygate here, I was afraid when all this broke that history would just repeat itself and that eventually a place I've spent a lot of time and made what I thought were friends would eventually become intolerable.

It seems I was right. The last word is all yours. But I won't be around to read it. Good luck storming the castle.
