The 2024 Draft

That would be how to completely fuck it up. A slew of pics or Maye is acceptable and defendable. JJ Mccarthy is just plain stupid. He's a roll of the dice at best.

I wish I could say it's so dumb this Patriots management staff wouldn't do it but, Bob Kraft is letting his son run the show so anything is possible, including this ridiculousness.
Just remember the POS mockumentary Dynasty. It could definitely happen.

Maybe the Vikings will end up offering the bag if Maye is still there at 3.

Drake Maye on his relationship with Vikings QB coach Josh McCown:
"Coach McCown coached me in high school. His two sons Owen and Aiden were some of my best friends in high school, we still play video games together.
Josh was great. He would go play (NFL) on Sundays and then fly in and coach us on Friday nights. I'm thankful he’s in the NFL coaching quarterbacks, he’s a great mind and a great player."

McCown seems to know him well.

Which way will Wolf go?
Maye? or 3 1sts (11, 23 and next year's 1st) and Justin Jefferson? That's my demand.

If it's me I'd take the deal.
My reasoning: Maye won't help us this year since he'll be riding pine. Take the best OT available at 11, then the best QB, OT or WR at 23. Fill both OT & WR for years
to come. Jefferson is already a legit top 10 WR1. And 34 is still a high value pick. Now you have 2 first round picks to move up next year for a QB if there's 1 they love.

Will Wolf trade out when Kraft has already said he wants a QB? Eliot better ask Jonathan before acting either way.

if they let Wolf pick the groceries then there's hope that kraft will minimize the meddling.... if they take JJ at 3 then I smell Kraft (and I don't mean the cheese) all over that.

Mike Lombardi said today that if he was picking for the Commanders he would pick McCarthy.

oh...it will smell like cheese...limburger...

I heard the report that the Pats will wait until they are on the clock to decide on whether to move or not. Well, McCarthy isn't going in the top 2, so that would mean they would be willing to lose out on either Maye or McCarthy. That incorrect thinking?

on sirius nfl tonight, polian (i know but hear me out) said that someone at a site called the 33rd team i think studied 1st round only from 2011-2019 and only 36% of those 280+ players got an extension with the team that drafted them. so yeah...high failure rate for most 1st rounders.

That sounds about right. Just go look at every first round for the past 10 years and ask if you know half the names there.

This is the very first time 30 years that I have no knowledge of any of the future NFL players that will be picked in the next three days. I used to watch a lot of college football, and it gave me an excellent familiarity to all the different players entering the draft. I used to do months of research trying to make my own draft board. Before the draft was moved to Thursday, I used to make, Saturday and Sunday an annual draft a drink, and feast Weekend.

So tonight I still won’t be watching the draft because I don’t have cable TV and the only thing I’ll do is follow the tracker and see who we pick. I’m kind of going into this with zero expectations which makes it a very stress-free situation for me.

The only position I truly care about tonight is the quarterback position. What are your thoughts going in tonight and who do you want to see the patriots draft for that position and explain to me why?

I have not seen any footage college or draft of any of the players. So I might spend a few minutes looking at some film if I have time of course. Enjoy the draft everybody.

While I am waiting to go to the airport, I looked at 8 experts  mock drafts. They all have us taking Maye unless we trade down.
I'm hoping that we trade down 2 or 3 spots pick up another 2nd round pick.

I hope someone else picks Maye. I just have a bad feeling about him.

If 36 percent is the average hit rate the Patriots are significantly below that over the last ten years.

Hopefully that trend turns around tonight.
12.5 hours away!

This is the best draft position we have had since the early 90s's. Here's to us  taking a haul home over the next 3 days!

6 1st round picks i believe 2 stayed longer than 1 contract (hightower,solder) that's 33%. so...not significantly below 36%.

Don't need cable tonight it's on ABC as well as the ESPN and NFLN.

I live about 5 miles south of Bridgewater State and know a lot of people from that town who are involved in football and have
literally never heard of Cahoon.

D3? Who knows, maybe somebody will want to give us a bag to move up for our slot in the 2nd round to get the unknown with the
golden arm.
