The kids are doing as well as can be expected. They're 5 and 8 years old and they don't know the full story. They are currently living with their aunt and are going to school there. His son is signed up for karate and his daughter is signed up for dance, so they're going about life as normally as possible. Jeff's wife is splitting nights between the hospital and her sister's, so she can spend time with the kids.
Frank please tell her that she is in our hearts at all times and we are really pulling for her and Jeff to get home with the kids soon and be one big happy family again.

This - many times over.

Heavenly Father, thank You for the positive reports in Babalu's recovery, thank You for the caregivers diligence in testing and retesting to recognize Bab's progress, thank You for the strength You have given Babs to endure the damages to this illness and fight back, thank You for Babs, our friend and fellow Planeteer. Give us this day our daily bread, each of us, that we may be strengthened to endure and work for recovery as Babs does, aid each of us, friends, caregivers, family, and Babalu alike, to know Your Word as the prophet David knew it: "This is my comfort in my affliction, that Thy Word has revived me." (Psalm 119:50) Grant Babalu his daily bread which he needs to be healed in mind, body, and spirit. Hallowed be Your Name O Lord; in the Name of Jesus Christ, the perfect Lamb whose blood was shed for our forgiveness. Amen.

The first thing I do each day is go to BOR's prayer. I then pray BORr's prayer with all my heart and make it my own. A bit of a cheat I know, but God and Babs won't mind.

Cheers, BostonTim

Erm...does "/nohomo" mean that nohomo was only in effect for part of that post, and you will now return to your default and regularly scheduled gay-osity?

Just asking. :coffee:

And babs? Getting kind of annoyed with your not-getting-better-fast-enough-to-enjoy-football-and-fall-ness. Snap to and get better, k douchewaffle?

Babs...While you were sleeping, a major scientific, cultural, spritual, gastronomic breakthrough has taken place.

This historic innovation will have far reaching effects for the betterment of life across the planet.

Not that you need any extra motivation to fight your way back. But just look what's waiting for you....

Texas Chef Successfully Deep-Fries...Beer!

I sincerely hope the committee that hands out Nobel Prizes in the science fields have taken notice of one Texas chef who recently achieved a gastronomical breakthrough: deep-fried beer.

That’s right. According to this report: The beer is placed inside a pocket of salty, pretzel-like dough and then dunked in oil at 375 degrees for about 20 seconds, a short enough time for the confection to remain alcoholic. When diners take a bite the hot beer mixes with the dough in what is claimed to be a delicious taste sensation.

Inventor Mark Zable said it had taken him three years to come up with the cooking method and a patent for the process is pending. He declined to say whether any special ingredients were involved.

Zable will introduce the dish at a fried-food competition in Texas later this month. He’ll serve five of the ravioli-like bites for a very modest $5. If any of our Texas readers plan on attending this food festival, please report back to the Wild Chef (fswildchef@gmail.com) and let us know how they tasted.

This dish sounds like the perfect hunting camp side dish. But the question is, what wild game do you think it’d go best with? I’m thinking it’d taste mighty fine next to a slab of grilled backstrap. Any other suggestions? —Colin Kearns

As soon as I read that I thought of you. I can't wait to hear you reaction to this historic discovery.

Update: 9/15/2010

Not a whole lot to report, just more small positive things. The neurologist have noticed an increase in his reflexes, he's still opening his eyes with and without stimulation, but he's still not tracking yet. His temperature is good, they haven't seen any seizure activity and his overall condition is fairly stable.

Please keep the prayers and positive thoughts coming. We need to wake him up.

As you guys have already picked up the local new stories I won't repeat them here. And I will get you more details soon on donating auction items, etc.

Just a slight clarification, if you'd like to make donations:

Checks should be made payable to:

Does he have insurance and this is just to cover lost wages, or is this for medical costs too?

He has Blue Cross of some sort, I don't know how much of his treatment is fully covered. Jeff's obviously not working, but I believe he's getting some type of short (soon to be long) term disability. His wife also hasn't been to work since Jeff got sick. She worked part time and I don't believe she's entitled to any sort of compensation at the moment.

So, to answer your question, this fund is to help them with both day to day and medical expenses.

Just saw this today :(

Babs and his family will be in my thoughts. This is the biggest fight of your life and everyone is pulling for you. I know you're going to beat it!

Father God, thank You for Babalu's devoted family and the example they set each of us, thank You for church families where the love of Christ brings strangers together in fellowship, thank You for the blessing of friends to whom we extend the hospitality of family and receive such gifts in return, thank You for those among us who give to the less fortunate with no desire for recognition or expectation of return gifts, bless each of us to be as loving of our fellow man in service to You. I ask Your mercy for continued healing and progress toward recovery for Babalu, strengthen him to regain his communication skills and his health, strengthen his caregivers in their gifts and their knowledge of Your love for all men that they may be a source of comfort for their patients and their families. Strengthen and comfort Babalu's family in their endurance, place Your gift of faith in their hearts and lead them to feed it with Your Word of Life. Thank Your for Your breath of life, teach us always to pass it to those dead in sin that they may become Your children through Christ Jesus, in whose Name I pray. Amen.
