Merged - The Artist known as Prince is dead

I can only remember 2 songs I liked from prince . Party like it's 1999 & purple rain. I'm one of the few people I guess . That's didn't like the movie .

Prince was a musical genius - on his early albums he played all the instruments, multitracked. He could get you toe tapping to some infectious tune without really thinking that the lyrics were pornographic. One measure of talent, he didn't make music of a style that conformed with an era. He did it his own way and the times conformed with him.

R.I.P.

I've always enjoyed this... A tribute to the greatest Superhero of all time.

Just read this morning that his plane made an emergency landing due to his flu worsening during his concert tour.

What a shame. He was a huge talent :frown: :sulk:
No flu

My goodness. What kind of flu did he have that it killed him?

It feels like the 80's are slowing dying. I may have a break down when Madonna kicks it.
I think he needed a Narcan Nasal Flu shot

He was one of many things I disliked about the 80s... Not his fault, but my little sister listened to his albums over and over and over and... Frankly, I think it was what turned her into a lesbian (just kidding... Maybe....)

Talented musician, and the loss of an artist almost always makes the world less nice, but if I never hear a Prince song for the remainder of my days, I'm okay with that. :coffee:

I didn't buy Prince albums of attend his shows, but it's still pretty ,much a part of the soundtrack to my late teens and early twenties, and I still sing along to 1999 and Little Red Corvette.

Just a super talented guy. I'd suggest someone look into Lisa's question about Kardashians because I am pretty sure it's one of the seven signs.

I've read a few things this morning suggesting he OD'd, which is odd because he always made it clear he was anti-drugs, a pure vegan, and a deeply religious Jehovah's Witness.

yet the "emergency landing" of his plane the other day seems pretty drastic for the Flu and it is being reported that Narcan was used.

He Visited the white house and Obama, I bet he had his Elvis moment and got a badge too.

For those of you who have SiriusXM radio, they are playing his songs all weekend on channel 50.

Both he and Michael Jackson are gone. I remember the debates people used to have over which one was the more talented.

So sad.

:frown:

Yeah...he was a talented Doo, but, I could never really get into his stuff.

He had a few ok/ish songs though...

Weird that he died in an elevator when he wrote that lyric "if the elevator tries to bring you down, go crazy, punch a higher floor."

That was the first thing I thought of when I read that article saying he was in the elevator.

If it was drugs, well a fair share of very artistic/creative people seem to go this way. One day, maybe they will figure out what about the wiring of those types of people makes the correlation.

It's always an interesting thing when people who are intensely private like he was have such large public careers. Perhaps that was a contributing factor.

Whether you loved his music (I did, the 80's stuff mostly) or not, there is no denying he was brilliantly talented and it is always especially tragic to me when people with huge gifts die young.

Wildly talented and unique guy. Shame.

Wasn't the biggest Prince fan.

But learned to tolerate his craft. Quickly.

I was class of '85. EVERY hot chick liked his product at that time. And admittedly some of it was catchy and much more tolerable.

But in HS back then, if you kept up appearance, had booze or weed, and could listen to Prince wail or whine, you were tapping some hottie by midnight.

I was right. It IS why my sister turned Lesbian. :coffee:

As a fan of the King you know as well as I do that Elvis took all them drugs just to get them off the street and away from all the little ones.
